Doug Alley
Doug has over 35 years of human resources experience in virtually all sectors of the economy, both private and public, and provincially and federally regulated, unionized and non-unionized. He has been involved in all areas of human resources including recruitment and retention, performance management, training and facilitation, health and safety, policy creation, labour relations, employee engagement and human rights.
In his most recent role Doug was the Vice President – Human Resources with the Business Council of British Columbia. He was responsible for all areas of labour relations, human resources and occupational health and safety. His activities included employment and labour policy advocacy with both federal and provincial politicians, agencies and tribunals.
Exequiel J. Factor
Exequiel Factor is a UBC Commerce graduate who holds a Chartered Accountants Designation and a Certified Financial Planner’s Designation. He practices in the area of tax and business planning for professionals and small businesses. He is a Partner of Horizon Chartered Accountants Ltd.
Christopher Flett
Christopher Flett has founded 47 companies over the last 20 years. A serial entrepreneur, he now oversees his venture pool and manages his team of 80 business advisors who work with women-run businesses in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia.
When not working, he is sharing his thoughts on business in books, including his New York Times Best Selling title, “What Men Don’t Tell Women About Business.”
Michelle Pockey
Michelle Pockey is a partner in the Vancouver law office of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. Fasken Martineau is one of the world’s leading international business law and litigation firms advising in every sector of business, industry and government and with more than 650 lawyers with offices across Canada, in the United Kingdom, France and South Africa. Michelle ‘s practice principally involves the provision of strategic legal and business advice in relation to natural resource project development, property development and environmental, health and safety matters. She assists organizations to obtain the social licence and regulatory approvals to carry out a variety of projects and helps them to identify and minimize environmental and regulatory risks arising a variety of commercial transactions and business operations. In 1997, Michelle founded and has continued to lead the Professional Women’s Network – a broad based business and professional career and business development group with 1000 members in Vancouver and Calgary Chapters.
David Reeve
David’s experience with entrepreneurs started over 21 years ago when he met his amazing spouse Michelle whom he affectionately describes as “a crazy ass serial entrepreneur”. Experiencing the multitude of companies Michelle has started and coupled with working for many “startups” and entrepreneurs along the way, David completely understands the mindset of entrepreneurs and equally as important the people that work for them.
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, David loves helping entrepreneurs develop the proper “rhythms” within their brand with a focus in two areas, building amazing cultures and operations platforms that achieve consistent excellence.
For the past 5 years David was the Chief Dream Officer at Nurse Next Door, Canada’s largest and most recognized home care brand in Canada. Whilst at Nurse Next Door David helped take Nurse Next Door from zero to 50 franchise locations building the cultural and operating infrastructure.
Recently David was appointed to the role of Chief Strategy Officer at Fully Managed Canada’s premier IT managed services brand, where he is accountable for the following.
- Mentoring the founders.
- Designing the brand.
- Designing an amazing culture.
- Building the operating platform to achieve the consistent rhythm.
David is a Lean certified black belt in the Toyota production system where he helps brands eliminate waste in their processes and only keep what is of value to the end user.
David sits on several advisory boards where guides companies to stay true to their core purpose, values and platform and does not allow them to become distracted by “shiny objects”.
David speaks regularly to a variety of industries on the topics of culture building, Lean mythology and how to survive in an entrepreneurial culture.
During his spare time David likes to mentor individuals from all walks of life on the power of dreams and is the founder of www.unleashdreams.com.
Bruce Wiesner
Bruce Wiesner is Associate Dean with the Sauder School of Business, at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada, providing overall leadership and strategic direction to the Executive Education division. Wiesner has over twenty years of management and senior executive experience and a proven track record in leading successful growth strategies within the publishing and media industries. Bruce was previously Senior Vice-President of Canada Wide Media Ltd and has also held several senior positions at Quebecor World Inc. including Regional Vice-President and spent several years with Pitney Bowes in sales management roles in the 1990’s.
