Our client, a large construction union, is adding a Chief Financial Officer to the team. Reporting to the Business Manager, the CFO will play a critical role in developing and implementing the financial strategy of the organization. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will be an advisor to the distinct business areas, evaluating and assisting them with their financial plans and economic modeling. The CFO will oversee all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the union in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the Finance, Audit and Investment Committees of the Boards of all entities.
We are seeking CFO candidates with strong track records in leading transformation both within the finance function and throughout an organization; performance leaders focused on cost management, the use of metrics and scorecards, and who have worked to standardize data and systems. Requirements include a minimum of 5 years experience in a senior-level finance or accounting role in a union or in the construction industry, coupled with a university degree in Finance or Accounting – post-graduate degree and CPA designation preferred. Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning and asset management is essential, as well as knowledge of federal and provincial financial regulations, GAAP and SOX compliance. This key position demands a well-developed sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills – the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners and government agencies.
Our client offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits program.
We thank all interested applicants but only those selected for interview will be contacted.
